About Our Program:

Dr. Paul Aisen founded the Memory Disorders Program at Georgetown University Medical Center in 1999. Recruited from Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, Dr. Aisen created the first program which focused on Alzheimer's disease and related disorders in the Washington DC Metro Area.  Currently, the Memory Disorders Program has an interdisciplinary STAFF of clinicians, including physicians and nurse practitioners, a program coordinator, research faculty, research assistants, clinical monitors, and student volunteers.  We work together to provide quality care to patients and their families.

The Memory Disorders Program, part of the Department of Neurology at Georgetown University Medical Center, provides clinical services and conducts research trials.  Evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and continuing care are available through the program.  Additionally, we participate in a variety of clinical trials including studies of novel treatments, new diagnostic methods, and vitamin supplements (Please see RESEARCH for more details).

Patients and their families use our services in a variety of ways.  Some patients utilize the clinic services for an initial memory evaluation and follow-up care.  Others participate only in research studies and have an independent neurologist who provides care for their memory impairment. Others still are both clinic patients and participate in research studies.
